This is my second list of favorite shows to watch on PBS Passport. Find Part 1 here:

Unfortunately, the U.S. Congress passed that awful bill to cut all funds to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which includes PBS and NPR. So to keep all these great programs alive, become a member of your local PBS station, and enter the magical world of Passport where you can see the programs I am recommending and a lot more. All series listed here have more than one season. Check with your local PBS station to learn how to sign up.

Let’s start with Mysteries.

Van Der Valk: English. “Dutch detective Piet Van der Valk and his team face high-profile cases in this fast-paced police procedural that explores Amsterdam’s cultural contrasts.”

Murder in Sweden: Swedish with English subtitles. “On a picturesque Swedish island, Maria juggles being a good mother and detective-all while sustaining her female perspective and approach to life-and solving some heinous crimes.”

Nature/Environmental Programs: You’re probably familiar with Nature and Nova.
In case you missed one of these, you can go to Passport and see past programs
that go back several seasons.

For now, here’s a fairly recent nature program, The Human Footprint.
“Earth has never experienced anything like us: a single species
dominating and transforming the planet. Princeton University biologist
Shane Campbell-Staton travels the globe to explore our
Human Footprint and to discover how the things we do reveal
who we truly are.”

NonFiction:

Craft in America: English. “Capturing the beauty, creativity and originality of craftsmanship, the film highlights artists and explores the inter-relationship of what they do, how they do it and why they have chosen a life of creating art.”
